THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT
My professional career began with an internship at Draftfcb Johannesburg in 2007.
After a year I was offered a permanent position as junior designer. I gladly accepted and joined
a small design team within the agency. Producing work for large corporate clients encouraged
me to develop my conceptual ability, craft and design skills.

After three and a half years at Draftfcb I moved to a small agency for a short while before
deciding to unclip my wings and venture out into the world of freelance.
During my time as a freelancer I serviced a small group of clients and learned how to approach different
client needs whilst juggling a variety of jobs.

During that time I also freelanced for Global Mouse, a design agency (now Roering Creative Kin).
I was an in-house freelance designer for three months before I was offered a permanent position
as mid-weight graphic designer. Due to the fast paced nature of the agency, I learned and grew
very quickly at Global Mouse.

My determination, creativity and drive was soon noticed and I was promoted
to Brand Head of DiscoveryCard,
which is a financial division of South Africa’s largest medical aid scheme.
My responsibilities included managing a team of designers to produce creative and innovative solutions
to DiscoveryCard’s business challenges. With my focus being on one brand, I was given room
to spot the loopholes within the brand and truly add value where it was most needed.

Craving the buzz of the ad world, I moved to Joe Public to join their
sub-division, Joe Public Ignite, as Team Leader and I was later promoted to Group Head.
Being a young and growing department, Joe Public Ignite encouraged me to exercise my
creative muscle to its full capacity.

Joe Public Ignite’s core purpose is Growth™ and as part of the team one has to live by this purpose.
This has gave me sturdy push towards growing myself as an individual and in return contributing
towards the growth of the company. I was a part of a team that grew the business
from just a few small clients to a wide variety of prestigious clients.

In 2017 I made the decision to fly solo and focus on my own business ideas.

In 2019 I co-founded our company Heita Daar, along with a partner.
Together we offer a long list of services in the creative, marketing and advertising space.
Our business journey have been tough but pleasant and has contributed to my growth experience.
We have maintained healthy relationships with our clients, both locally and internationally and our wish
is to continue growing through creativity, hard work and dedication.
